CIF leadership participates in government housing conference

Housing matters from planning to capital allowances for regeneration have been raised at government level by Construction Industry Federation leadership.

The Department of An Taoiseach and the Department of Housing held a Housing Conference on January 10 at Government Buildings.

Chair of the Irish Home Builders Association (IHBA) Sean O’Neill, CIF Director General Tom Parlon, Director General Designate Hubert Fitzpatrick and Director of Housing, Planning and Development Conor O’Connell. pictured above, were invited to participate.

The IHBA and CIF delegation had the opportunity to discuss vitally important issues and barriers to development.

A series of suggested solutions and practical actions to expediate housing supply were made directly to Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and the Minister for Housing Darragh O’Brien, including cost reduction measures (VAT), focused and targeted capital allowances for regeneration, resourcing An Bord Pleanála to address the backlog of planning applications and other related matters.

The conference was attended by several different representative organisations and delivery bodies, including planners, surveyors and housing charities.

As widely-publicised, the Government is open to suggestions and liaison with key personnel will continue.
