CIF is delighted to announce the appointment of Stephen McCarthy as its new president for the term 2025 to 2027.
Stephen takes over as president from Joe Conway of Dornan Construction, who has chaired the federation’s Executive Committee for the past two years as president.
Stephen has been a committed and long-serving member of the federation having previously served as Chairman of Homebond and Chairman of Irish Home Builders Association from 2013 to 2015.
Stephen also held the role of Chairman of Cork House Builders from 2010 to 2014 and from 2020 to 2024, and Cork Branch Chairman from 2015-2016.
Stephen is owner and Managing Director of Astra Construction Services Ltd, based in Cork, a house building company of multi-unit family homes.
His business is concentrated in the Carrigaline area of Cork and the company has gone from strength to strength in that time.
Stephen believes in fostering a love of sport and a sense of community and has contributed greatly to the various sporting organisations and amenities in Carrigaline.

“His leadership will be instrumental in ensuring that the Executive Committee remains aligned with member priorities and in steering the federation effectively.
“The federation also extends its gratitude to Joe Conway for his exceptional leadership over the past two years, which included spearheading the development of our new strategic plan to guide the organisation over the coming years.”
Stephen McCarthy said: “It is with great pride and a deep sense of responsibility that I step into this role.
“Having been immersed in this industry for many years, I am eager to work alongside our members, advocating for their interests and ensuring our voice is heard where it matters most.
“Together, we will strengthen our representation in government and society, addressing crucial issues like housing and infrastructure, while embracing the technologies shaping our future.
“I look forward to meeting with members across the country throughout the year, at CIF events, branch and association meetings, and am committed to listening and engaging to ensure that your voices remain central to the federation’s work.”
Stephen McCarthy officially began his term as president on January 1, 2025.
