The Construction Industry Federation recently launched our new strategy ‘One Federation, One Voice’ to guide our work on behalf of our members.
The federation exists to be a strong voice for the industry and to support you, as you do business, through our professional services and training academy.
We are committed to meeting our members’ needs and to delivering the highest value in our services.
We are driven by our vision to represent the construction industry as a unified voice, underpinned by a clear strategic pathway and governance structures.
Our strategy is available to read on our website and we look forward to engaging with our committees and members countrywide in its implementation.
At the heart of our values is safety, as we strive to build a stronger, safer construction industry. Our Construction Safety Campaign, this month, will see the entire sector come together to resolutely focus on safety, under our theme of identifying and mitigating critical risks.
Construction workers can face hazards while performing essential tasks.
There’s nothing more important than protecting the health of those who work on our sites and projects.
The Construction Safety Campaign asks construction companies to identify possible risks on-site and to ensure that safety processes are in place.
On-site risks can relate to such activities as working at heights, operating heavy machinery or electrical work. But they can also include mental health and physical health.
This year the federation has teamed up with the Irish Heart Foundation to promote heart health awareness at home and on-site. We’re asking members and partners to complete CPR training in their workplaces to equip staff with this lifesaving skill.
Our charity partner, the Lighthouse Club, continues to provide emotional and financial support to workers undergoing challenges in their lives.
Another important development this month has been the recent Budget 2025 announcement.
The Construction Industry Federation welcomed additional capital spending on infrastructure announced on October 1 in Budget ’25 but underlined the need for firm timelines on delivery.
The infrastructure investment required to support the growing population is significant, and the budget announcement is a positive step toward addressing water, housing, and energy needs.
However, this progress must be backed by clear timelines and delivery commitments to ensure success. The construction industry has the capacity, commitment, and capability to rise to the challenge of delivering the housing and infrastructure that is essential for Ireland’s prosperity and wellbeing.
The Construction Safety Campaign is an inspiring example of the industry’s drive for continual improvement, collaboration, and progress.
I urge you to take part in the campaign this year by organising a safety event or initiative in your workplace. Let’s work harder than ever to excel in safety at all levels of the industry and create healthy, safe workplaces.
