Taking the lead on sustainability in the latest issue of the CIF Construction magazine – out now

by | Aug 26, 2022

This month’s edition of Construction Magazine is focused on a theme of sustainability and leadership. Throughout this issue we have featured some of the people and companies who have expertise and valuable insight into what it means, and what it will take, to create a sustainable construction sector.

We hear from CIF Directors Sean Downey (Page 10), Paul Sheridan (Page 13) and Dermot Carey (Page 72) who each discuss some of the wide-ranging challenges and solutions to how the industry can move forward and deliver the built environment needed to fulfil the Government’s vision for a future Ireland that supports people, community and business.

From safeguarding the environment to a train and retain mentality when it comes to the skills and talent needed over the coming decade, there is real momentum and positivity around what can be achieved if all stakeholders in the construction sphere work together.

It has also been a busy, productive and exciting summer for construction innovation following the announcement of several new initiatives
and facilities across the country.

This is reflected by our cover star, Bebhinn Kennedy, who is the newly appointed Enterprise Support lead with LOETB at Mount Lucas, which was recently announced as the site for a new national MMC demonstration park as part of Housing for All. When it comes to sustainability and building a sustainable industry there is no shortage of new energy and collaboratively minded people who are energised to create positive change.

We also preview the upcoming Southern Construction Summit & Exhibition where industry experts and leaders will share their experience and thoughts on the future of the construction sector.

Speakers at the September Summit will include Michael McGrath TD, Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform alongside Joe Seymour, Head of Active Travel & Public Transport Investment, National Transport Authority, Conor O’Connell, CIF Director of Housing and Catherine Sheridan, Chief Operations Officer, EIH2, among others.

This year’s Summit & Exhibition takes place at Páirc Uí Chaoimh, Cork on September 8, chaired by broadcaster Jonathan Healy. Members of the public and representatives from across the construction sector are encouraged to attend. For more information, tickets and a full list of speakers go to www.southernconstruct.ie
