Embracing technology and new ways to work and deliver in the latest edition of Construction magazine – out now

by | Nov 19, 2024

We welcome this edition of Construction off the back of another successful Digicon event.

The annual CIF gathering brings together thought  leaders and digital adoption champions to share vision and insight into how the construction industry can embrace technology and innovate to overcome its challenges to create more sustainable and efficient processes for the future.

Congratulations to all those involved in curating a stellar programme, which enticed all levels of stakeholders to Croke Park at the end of October for a rewarding day of conversation and connection.

We continue that theme in this issue by featuring some of Digicon’s expert speakers as well as other innovators and groundbreakers who pioneer new ways to work. CIF Director of Specialist Contracting Denise Tuffy shares her expertise and the latest thinking on technology on page 22.

Her message is clear – overcoming the challenges of construction’s new digital era can lead to huge rewards.

Elsewhere, PJ Rudden, Chair of Construction Innovation and Digital Adoption with the Department of Public Expenditure NDP Delivery and Reform, considers how embracing modern policies and techniques can transform the industry in Ireland as it competes on a national and global scale.

We also meet Conall Bolger, CEO of the Irish Solar Energy Association, to find out about the organisation’s work, including how to find solutions to better integrate renewables into the energy system.

In this edition’s If it was up to me … Q&A we meet Dr Lollie Mancey, programme director and entrepreneurial specialist at University College Dublin’s Innovation Academy, who talks about what inspire her and how she fosters innovation to empower aspiring entrepreneurs.

As well as full coverage of this year’s Digicon, we also have a round-up of projects from this year’s CECA Excellence Awards, an overview of the CIF South East Construct Conference and share a big thank you to all the sponsors of this year’s CIF Construction Safety Campaign, which was a resounding success.

When it comes to the digital future of the industry, leadership will be key to driving change through modern methods of construction and digitalisation.

We hope this special edition can, in part, inspire transformative action and encourage further engagement in this area.
