Exploring the potential of regional development and infrastructure in the latest edition of Construction magazine – out now

by | May 8, 2024

Welcome to the May edition of Construction magazine where we focus our industry insight on infrastructure and regional development.

Both Ireland’s rural districts and its urban cityscapes are at the heart of society supporting the growth of community, and so it is imperative that investment continues to flow in this direction.

Within their respective regions, CIF Directors Justin Molloy and Joanne Treacy have a wealth of expertise to offer and we are delighted to feature them both in this issue.

Within the Western, Midland and Northern Regions, Justin explains how investing in critical infrastructure such as regional roads, rail, air and sea ports, can lead to economic prosperity, while renewable energy generation has the potential to make further impact on a European level.

Within the Southern Region, Joanne shares her thoughts on how the construction industry is a driver for regional growth and regeneration, highlighting some of the major projects across Waterford, Cork and Limerick that showcase how a thriving built environment delivers a positive impact for all.

Elsewhere, on page 52, and ahead of this month’s CIF Health and Safety Summit 2024, we chat to Bill Hill of the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity.

Having recently stepped down from the organisation’s helm, he talks candidly about what the future holds and how the industry can continue to support the health and wellbeing of its people.

We end this edition on a lighter note with some thoughts from extreme challenger, mental health and disability campaigner Fergus Farrell.

As a keynote speaker at the upcoming Health and Safety Summit, he will share an incredible story of resilience and determination. Turn to page 82 for an advance glimpse into his inspiring musings on life.

Wishing all of our Construction readers, partners and advertisers a healthy and prosperous start to the summer season.
