Investing in the future of housing delivery in the latest edition of Construction magazine – out now

by | Apr 1, 2025

The April edition of Construction magazine is published in conjunction with the IHBA Housebuilding Summit. Taking place on April 8 in Croke Park, Dublin, this annual gathering is now in its sixth year.

This year’s event will endeavour to consider how, over the coming two decades, the national planning framework coupled with substantial investment will transform Ireland’s housing landscape.

The government is planning to deliver 300,000 new homes by 2030, the question is how to build the right foundations to make this target a reality. Leading the conversation around this critical issue are the Irish Home Builders Association (IHBA) and the Construction Industry Federation (CIF).

In this special edition, we gain insight into the leadership perspective around finding solutions to the challenges within the sector when it comes to building more homes for more people.

Addressing constraints around cost, labour and infrastructure, coupled with planning pressures and the supply of zoned and serviced land ready for development, are all key to exploring how best to advance best practice and delivery in housing development.

In this edition, we hear from the IHBA’s outgoing and incoming chairpersons, Michael Kelleher of O’Flynn Group and Michael Prenty of Ballymore, both established home builders who have much to add to the conversation around how collaboration, innovation and pragmatism can bolster the achievements of the industry.

We also consider the impact of industry trends, while elsewhere Kate Rhatigan, design and policy director at Winterbrook, outlines priorities and actions toward housing supply and targets in Ireland.

All this and more over the following pages as part of the bigger conversation around housing delivery.
