CREATING A LEGACY OF SAFETY, RESPECT & RESPONSIBILITY
Welcome to the October edition of Construction. This month’s issue supports one of the most important pillars of the industry – safety.
The built environment has a tremendous legacy of innovation and delivery, and paramount to that is the drive to ensure the health, wellbeing, and safety of the people who work within it.
We are delighted to partner with this year’s CIF Construction Safety Campaign and its sponsors, CIF member companies, who are leading the way when it comes to zero harm on and off site.
This October, Ireland’s construction sector is embracing the Construction Industry Federation’s Back to Basics campaign.
Running from October 13-24, it is more than just a reminder – it’s a rallying call to every site, every leader, and every worker across the country.
In partnership with Spinal Injuries Ireland, this initiative invites the industry to refocus on the fundamentals that protect lives and strengthen our culture of care.
At its heart lies a simple truth: safety starts with people – their actions, their awareness, and their leadership.
Over two weeks, the campaign will spotlight five essential themes shaping safer work sites: Leadership in Safety, Critical Risks, Utilities, Falls from Height, and Developing the Next Generation.
Through toolbox talks, site events, and hands-on engagement, companies are encouraged to bring these conversations to life – turning lessons into lasting habits.
In this edition, we also sincerely welcome the CIF’s new CEO Andrew Brownlee, and wish him the very best in his new role, as we introduce him to readers for the first time.
Construction is about building structures, communities, and futures. Safety is the foundation, and this month’s Back to Basics initiative reminds us that strong leadership, informed decision-making, and a culture that puts people first are what truly sustain the industry.
As we look to the next generation of builders, engineers, and innovators, let’s commit to giving them something greater than a skillset – a legacy of safety, respect, and responsibility.
