Championing women in construction in the latest edition of the CIF Construction magazine – out now

by | Mar 1, 2024

March is always an exciting time on the Construction calendar.

As International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated globally, it affords us the opportunity to shine a spotlight on some of the incredible women working within the industry as well as those who champion it from the sidelines by supporting new ideas and fostering an inclusive culture to encourage more women to consider a career in the built environment.

As the Construction Industry Federation (CIF) prepares for yet another sold-out IWD Summit in Dublin on March 7, we hear from some of the event’s keynote speakers to find out how they embrace equality and continue to inspire the next generation.

Dr Katriona O’Sullivan is this issue’s cover star. Her story, which you can read from page 32, offers a deep perspective on the power of fair play and the role it can have in driving young girls and women towards jobs in the industry.

Perception plays a major role in all aspects of life and we are delighted to also feature some of CIF’s senior leadership team in this edition.

Reporter Aidan Priestley meets with Director of Communications Meabh Smith, Director of Specialist Contracting Denise Tuffy and Director of Corporate Affairs Maeve Kearns to discover how their work impacts the industry, supports members and helps to deliver results that benefits society as a whole.

We encourage you to share this special Women in Construction edition far and wide, and especially with anyone who might be considering stepping into the vibrant and rewarding world of building. Wishing all our readers a very happy International Women’s Day.
